Grosse Pointe ShoresGrosse Pointe Shores was incorporated in 1911 as a Village, with about 350 residents, and on April 1, 2009 was incorporated as a city “Village of Grosse Pointe Shores, A Michigan City”. It lies just north of the City of Detroit and is about one and a half square miles in size. The Shores is the smallest of the five Grosse Pointe communities and the only one to be zoned for single family dwellings only. It is still a small community, currently with approximately 1100 households, about 3000 residents. Grosse Pointe Shores is proud to be the home community of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, which is tax exempt, and the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, the Shores’ only commercial property.
