Grosse Pointe Park
Adopted in 1950, our City Charter provides the City of Grosse Pointe Park with a council/manager form of government. Village of Grosse Pointe Shores
Grosse Pointe Shores was incorporated in 1911 as a Village, with about 350 residents, and on April 1, 2009 was incorporated as a city “Village of Grosse Pointe Shores, A Michigan City”. It lies just north of the City of Detroit and is about one and a half square miles in size. The Shores is the smallest of the five Grosse Pointe communities and the only one to be zoned for single family dwellings only. It is still a small community, currently with approximately 1100 households, about 3000 residents. Grosse Pointe Shores is proud to be the home community of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, which is tax exempt, and the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, the Shores’ only commercial property. Read More

The City of Grosse Pointe Woods was originally incorporated in 1927 and was known as the Village of Lochmoor. In 1939, the Village of Lochmoor became the Village of Grosse Pointe Woods and on December 11, 1950, was incorporated as the City of Grosse Pointe Woods, a Home Rule City. The City of Harper Woods was incorporated as a City on February 19, 1951. The population as of the 2000 census is 14,254. It has an area of 2.63 square miles, and is located in southeast Michigan bordering the cities of Detroit, Eastpointe, St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods.
